Communications Specialist, Developing Midwives Project

James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) at BRAC University was established in 2004 as an international educational and research institution focusing on the integral areas of teaching, research, and services. The goal of the School is not only to impart knowledge but also to act as a center of excellence in knowledge creation through research and training that connects with practice. The James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University has been developing competent and compassionate Midwives to improve the maternal and neonatal health in Bangladesh through the 3 years Diploma course at seven Academic Sites, in partnership with six Non-Government Organizations, with support from the Government of Bangladesh since 2012 under the Developing Midwifery Project, funded by the UK government. We are looking for a Communications Specialist for this project.

Job profile
To showcase the midwifery programme to different stakeholders and contribute towards increasing awareness about and demand for midwives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review and modify existing communication materials & support in implementing the project’s communication and advocacy strategy;
  • Bring & utilize external resources to add new dimension to documentation; and contribute to quarterly/annual report working with team members;
  • Identify & engage national/divisional/district level Midwife ‘champions’ and support the individual project focal points to ensure regular and focused documentation of the lessons learned;
  • Serve as the custodian of Branding & Marketing (B&M) guidelines and ensure compliance in all project related documents;
  • Develop media & communication materials such as; press release, talking points, short videos, brochures, booklets, speeches for guests;
  • Ensure appropriate Branding & Marketing of important events and oversee the publication of the bi-annual bulletins ensuring quality content and layout;
  • Organize special events to promote the Midwifery programme and oversee the activity to ensure quality;
  • Identify key groups and individuals at the different agencies of the government, private sectors and the other stakeholders to ensure targeted communications/networking and advocacy;
  • Incorporate midwifery program news in the School website and regularly update various online platforms and disseminate press/media kits, establish rapport and collaborations with the media group and press community;
  • Ensure proper donor branding and use of stakeholders’ logos in materials and ensure no violations or deviations from B&M plan qualities;

 Requirement:

  • Master's degree from any reputed University, ideally in Mass Communication and Journalism with 7-10 years’ experience in the area of advocacy/communications, preferably in health sector.
  • Excellent knowledge on Documentation, external Communication, Dissemination and coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills both in English and Bangla.

Duty Station:  Dhaka.
