Call for Expression of Interest

‘Developing Midwives Project’ (DMP) of BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, envisions a healthcare system that reaches poor communities in the remote locations, and lessens maternal and neonatal mortality. To help the country reach its targeted number of midwives and hence lessen maternal mortality ratio, BRAC University launched 3-year ‘Diploma in Midwifery’ in 2012 as the first private midwifery education. Initially funded by UK Government and now by both UK Government and BRAC, this initiative is part of the ‘Developing Midwives Project’ (DMP) that looks to create 1,317 midwives by 2021. As of April 2017, 342 students graduated from BRACU, and 269 are continuing with their education.


Developing Midwives Project Phase 2, JPGSPH, BRAC university is inviting proposals from interested individuals/organizations/agencies for conducting a  study onidentifying barriers for creating enabling environment for students and graduate midwives and developing strategies to address those barriers leading to  establishment of midwifery as a profession’

The individual/organizations/agencies must submit the following:

  • Technical proposal with cover page, rationale of the assignment for conceptual clarity, content of the proposed matter, proposed methodology, work schedule/action plan and time line.
  • CVs of key persons involved and profile of similar assignments, if any.
  • Detailed financial proposal that outlines the detailed fees and associated costs including travel and accommodation, VAT & embaded TAX, preferred payment methods/schedules along with budget notes.
