Midwife, Midwife Led Care Center, Developing Midwives Project

BRAC James  P  Grant  School  of  Public  Health  (JPGSPH)  at  BRAC  University  was  established  in  2004  as  an  international educational and research institution focusing on the integral areas of teaching, research, and services. The goal of the School is not only to impart knowledge but also to act as a center of excellence in knowledge creation through research and training that connects with practice. The BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University has been developing competent and compassionate Midwives to improve the maternal and neonatal health in Bangladesh through the 3 years Diploma course at seven academic sites since 2012 under the Developing Midwives Project, funded by UK government with support from the Government of Bangladesh. We are looking for a Midwife for this project.

Job profile
The main role of this position will be to work as a fulltime midwife at midwifery led care center and provide quality care to the pregnant women and their newborn babies.

Responsibilities

  • To provide full antenatal, intra natal care, postnatal care and newborn care;
  • To assess and plan for care;
  • To monitor and examine women intensively during pregnancy and postnatal period;
  • To identify high risk pregnancies and making referral to doctors or other health medical specialists;
  • To provide family planning supports and services to couple and women
  • To provide health education, counseling and advice before and after antenatal care, postnatal care, intra natal care and newborn care;
  • To offer support and advice in case of miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death;
  • To supervise and assist mothers in labor, monitor the condition of the fetus and using knowledge of drugs and pain management;
  • To give support and advice on the daily care of babies which includes breastfeeding, bathing and complementary feeding;

Requirement

  • Completed government accredited midwifery course and must have license from BNMC;
  • Must have done 40 NVD independently;
  • Only female candidates are encouraged to apply;
  • Preferable Age between 25 to 30 years;
  • Capable of dealing with emotionally critical and pressured situation;
  • Good writing & oral communication skills in English and Bengali;
  • Good health and fitness;
  • Caring and compassionate in nature;
