IUCN is seeking a qualified individual to join our Bangladesh Country Office.

There are three subcategories of migratory birds: local migrants, sub-continental migrants (migrate to the south of India, then to Bangladesh in summer to breed), and intercontinental migrants (mainly ducks and waders). There are 244 species of migratory bird in Bangladesh, of which 21 are duck species. There are two types of surveillance – passive and active. Passive surveillance refers to opportunistic sampling including, but not limited to, sanctioned hunting, ongoing research or ringing projects, wildlife rescue centers, zoological collections. Active surveillance involves wild bird captures through bird ringing initiatives.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters in Zoology/Wildlife Biology with specialization on Bird Ringing.
  • 2 Years of professional experience in relevant field.
  • Professional level of knowledge in English.
  • Provide logistic support and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Assist Principal Investigator and other experts to finalize research methods in the field sites.
  • Assist Principal Investigator and other experts to organize meetings and workshops.
  • Assist experts in drafting monthly, quarterly and special reports on ongoing activities.
