IUCN is seeking a qualified individual to join our Bangladesh Country Office.

IUCN Bangladesh in close collaboration with Bangladesh Forest Department has taken initiative on White-rumped Vulture (Gyps bengalensis) conservation in Bangladesh: Establishment of toxic drug free Vulture Safe Zones (VSZ) and Monitoring of the Population trend. The World Bank - Dhaka is supporting this project. The goal of the project is “an institutional mechanism is working towards a toxic drug free zone for White-rumped Vulture in Bangladesh”. The main objective of the project is to establish a sustainable Vulture population in the country by preventing the decline of the population through establishing a number of Vulture Safe Zones (VSZs) across the country. These VSZs will be free from Diclofenac and other untested veterinary drugs and will have adequate number of trees suitable for vultures to nest.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters in Zoology/Natural Resources/Environmental Science/Archeology with specialization in communication.
  • 2 Years of professional experience in relevant field.
  • Professional level of knowledge in English.
  • Advocacy to the local community through regular meeting.
  • Assist Principal Investigator and other experts to finalize monitoring methods in the field sites.
  • Assist Principal Investigator and other experts to organize meetings and workshops.
  • Assist experts in drafting monthly, quarterly and special reports on ongoing activities.
  • Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned as and when deemed necessary.
