IUCN is seeking a qualified individual to join our Bangladesh Country Office.

The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ is widely recognized as the most comprehensive, objective global approach for evaluating the conservation status of plant and animal species. The previous Redlist is out dated as several new species are explored in recent times as well as the status of certain species also been changed. This study will update Red List for 7 groups of wildlife (Mammal, Reptile, Amphibians, Aves, Freshwater Fish, Crustacean and Butterfly), approximately, 1700 species in all. The goal of The IUCN Red List is “to provide information and analyses on the status, trends and threats to species in order to inform and catalyze action for biodiversity conservation”. Under the guidance of the Country Representative and Programme Coordinator, IUCN Bangladesh and the Project Manager, Updating Species Red List of Bangladesh; this position is responsible for providing necessary technical and logistic assistance for smooth implementation of the project in general and manage Amphibian, Reptiles and Mammals group in specific.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters in Zoology with specialization in wildlife
  • 3-4 Years of professional experience, with proven experience on working with species conservation in any of the group mentioned here (Amphibian, Reptiles and Mammals)
  • Professional level of knowledge in English
  • Support in the implementation of activities according to the project’s annual, quarterly and monthly work plans
  • Assist Red list unit team in organizing assessment workshop;
  • Provide logistic and technical support to Amphibian, Reptiles and Mammals Group-Lead and co-assessors in assessment and documentation;
  • Organize assessment and evaluation meetings and workshops in consultation with Lead-assessors and other stockholders;
  • Drafting monthly, quarterly and special reports on ongoing activities of his/her own taxonomic group;
  • Provide support to publish a books, video and posters and other communication materials on Redlist and threatened species of the country;
  • Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned as and when deemed necessary.
