Position Title: Shift Engineer
Department: Engineering
Overall responsible for: Under the general guidance and supervision of the Chief Engineer, delegates, operate, maintain and repair all aspects of the hotel systems in accordance with IHG standards to achieve optimum operating efficiency at all times.
Ensures that the Engineering operations are efficient and productive during the shift in accordance with InterContinental Hotels Group standards to ensure maximum efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reviews proposed capital expenditure authorization requests (CEA) forms pertaining to POMEC, and makes appropriate recommendations
- Assists in Engineering contract analysis
- Develops and implements procedures to govern the engineering supervisor duties, sees to it that all operational equipment are running well base on operational standard and technician on duty are assigned to make the hotel operations smooth and effective.
- Check all technicians on duty are in proper and orderly appearance
- Assign the job to all technicians on duty base on priority of job
- Conducts shift briefings to ensure hotel activities and operational requirements are known.
- Handles guest complaints, claims and problem solving of all aspect related to the engineering equipment.
- Carry out any minor repairs to guest rooms or public areas
- Follow up sudden function or sudden request of equipment in order to meet guest satisfaction
- Manage the consumption of electricity, water and gas by controlling the operation hours of chiller, boiler and solve of the leaking water tap ASAP.
- Supports and initiate programs for the improvement procedures and the reduction of energy and utility costs
- Analyses and monitors energy costs and expenditures for the department
- To be able to work on shift duties.
- Meeting with Chief Engineer for daily work progress and to detail for next day special work and for pending list.
- Assures implementation of IHG policies, standards and procedure for:
- Energy conservation and control.
- Water and sewage quality control.
- Fire prevention and other life safety programs
- Participates in conducting fire prevention training program.
- Observes prescribed safety standards, Helps maintain save conditions for self and to others
- Complies with Hotel’s Health, Safety and Hygiene policy.
- Participates in Hotel Energy Conservation Program.
- Responsible for contributing towards maintaining company standard of health and safety at work.
- Any task as and when required, not limited to.
Education
- Diploma in Engineering or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Customer service skills and problem solving abilities & extremely organised and demonstrates good planning skills
- Technical training in HVAC /electrical/plumbing
- Demonstrated ability of interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
- Good in the use of Microsoft Office.
Experience: 2 years related experience in 5* hotels/ luxury properties
Age: 28 - 32
Physical Features: Sound Health & energetic
Skills Required:
- Multitasking skill
- Excellent in speaking and writing in English
- Good in stress management
- Good in communication.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environmen
- Auto CAD is preferred
Others: Needs to be positive minded & self motivated and willing to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
