Position Title: Junior Waiter/Waitress

Department: Food & Beverage Service

Overall responsible for: Will be responsible for providing courteous and efficient service of food and beverage to guests at all times. Provide fast, professional and friendly service to all the guests and maintain a healthy work environment with cooperation to fellow colleagues from your team and the entire hotel.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Check the mise-en-place inside the dining room.
  • Responsible for picking up orders of food and beverage.
  • Responsible for bringing out soiled items from the tables.
  • Responsible for cleaning tables and chairs.
  • Ensures high standard of sanitation and hygiene in the restaurant.
  • Attends necessary training sessions whether within or outside of normal schedule working hours.
  • Advises the Captain on all guest comments and complaints.
  • Must be able to handle 1 station, including opening and closing duties.
  • Ensures that the operating equipment and general supplies for the restaurant are maintained.
  • Establishes par stocks and initiates requisitions for additional supplies if necessary.
  • Ensures service stations are properly staffed and equipped to render service to the guest. This includes proper supplies of glassware, cutlery, chinaware, ice, linen menu, decorations, condiments and side stands supplies.
  • Maintains a level of confidentiality.
  • Ensures that all guests are welcomed, seated and thanked on departure.
  • To report to his superiors any misbehavior of any outlet staff.
  • Posts orders in Micros.
  • Respects hygiene and safety rules.
  • Uses operating equipment correctly and handles it without damaging.
  • Advices and recommends food & beverage choices to guests.
  • Makes sure that the highest quality standards of operation in accordance with hotel service procedures.
  • Recommends to promote up selling and take order from the guest, follows up and ensure that this is carried out to the last detail.
  • Guest satisfaction must always be checked and any problems encountered must be relayed to Outlet Supervisor.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by your supervisor or department head or management.
  • Read, understand, and implement the relevant sections of the FLS Policy.
  • Make careful use of safety equipment, such as gloves, goggles, aprons, overalls, shoes, and so on, return safety equipment to its designated storage area after use.
  • Take reasonable care when storing, handling, and using chemicals and dangerous substances, lifting and carrying, and using or cleaning dangerous work equipment, including machines.
  • Comply with hotel rules and regulations and provisions contained in the employment handbook. 
  • Comply with company grooming standards at all times to portray a professional image of self and the hotel.
  • Comply with time and attendance policies set by the hotel.
  • Actively participate in training and development programs and maximize opportunities for self-development.
  • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to health, hygiene and fire life safety.
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure all security incidents, accidents and near misses are always logged in a timely manner and brought to the attention of the line manager.
  • Comply with the company’s corporate code of conduct.
  • Familiarize self with the company values (Great Hotels Guests Love) and model desired behaviors (Winning Ways, Room to be yourself) and ways of working (IHG Wheel).
  • Perform all tasks as directed by the manager in pursuit of the achievement of business goals.
  • Any task as and when required, not limited to.


HSC with Certification Course in Hotel Management is required. Bachelor degree with Certification Course in Hotel Management is preferred.


  • Customer service skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of the hotel and hospitality business
  • Ability of interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
  • Good reading and writing abilities for completing paperwork and giving and receiving instructions.

Experience: 1 year related experience in a 5* hotel/ luxury properties.

Languages: Good in speaking and writing in English is must.

Age: 20- 30

Physical Features: Sound Health & energetic

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge about basic F&B Service
  • Personal Service
  • Good in communication.

Others: Needs to be positive minded & self motivated and willing to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
