We are a German/Dutch organization running an innovative pilot project on eco-friendly building material and we are looking for a production site manager for our start-up CSEB facility in Shariatpur.

What is CSEB? CSEB (compressed stabilized earth blocks) is an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to fired clay bricks. It’s a proven technology used in more than 35 countries worldwide but hardly known in Bangladesh. Our pilot project will introduce this product to Bangladesh and build several samples houses in various districts. The project is funded by European investors and the 2 partners are Inclusive Home Solution Ltd. and Building Pioneers gUG.

This is the profile we are looking for:

• Fluent in English to ensure smooth communication with the German project manager
• Independent, responsible, hands-on working manner
• Entrepreneurial mind-set and well-organized
• Educational level: minimum SSC with technical experience
• Diploma in engineering is an asset
• At least 3 years work experience, preferably more
• Capability to manage a production team of 7 people
• Readiness to be in the field for several weeks at our CSEB production sites
• Good MS office skills, especially Microsoft Excel

This is how your job looks like:

• Manage the preparation of the production site incl. concrete flooring, shelter, water supply etc.
• Organize the transportation of the (small scale) production equipment within Bangladesh
• Help to set-up the production equipment on-site and purchase tools and supplies
• Manage the purchase and timely delivery of raw materials (soil, sand, cement)
• Hire local workers for the production team
• Organize food and lodging for the production team
• Translate from English to Bangla and vice-versa for communications between the German project manager and the local production team
• Assist in the CSEB production training of the local team
• Oversee daily CSEB production together with the production team leader
• Carry out quality control together with the German project manager
• Keep record of all expenses in Excel
• Work closely with the German and Belgian project managers

Availability and Salary
Your initial contract runs from end of April till 31st December 2015 and might be renewed in January 2016. You will be paid an entry salary of Tk 22,000 per month (previous work experience can be taken into account); after 4 months your salary will increase. In addition you get a lump sum for food and lodging and a festival bonus. Transportation expenses will be covered by us.
