BIGD is a post graduate institute of BRAC University. Major Responsibilities
The Editor will ensure that all public facing documents from BIGD has acceptable quality in terms of language and readability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire process of generating content for both BIGD’s website, blog and its annual flagship publications including soliciting and managing contributors, editing columns and essays, summarizing new research; producing event summaries, and interviewing and profiling key policy experts and scholars to ensure content is clear and accessible to target audiences.
  • Maintain relationships with both traditional and digital media outlets, including mass market newspapers, broadcast and cable operators, and new social media outlets to provide greater opportunities for BIGD’s researchers to provide commentary in various news outlets and increase the visibility and impact of BIGD and its events
  • Brainstorm timely blog content that allows BIGD’s researchers to uniquely contribute to discussions in the news cycle.
  • Develop ideas for videos and podcasts.
  • Contribute to developing and deploying a communications strategy that draws attention to the work of BIGD and its researchers.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years demonstratable relevant research editorial experience. 
  • Proven interest in governance and development research issues. 
  • Strong oral and written communications skills. 
  • Familiarity with research-oriented work environment. 
  • Experience of working with media. 
  • Experience with research organization, think tank and public relations agency.

Other Essential Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Independent to work with minimal supervision
  • General ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and perform under pressure
  • S/he should have a practical and flexible approach to duties and have excellent time management skills.
  • Expected to maintain good interpersonal relations with fellow researchers and staff members.

Job Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Salary (monthly): We are willing to pay a salary commensurate with your skills and qualifications.

Job Nature: Full time contractual
