IFES BANGLADESH - Terms of Reference

IFES is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building of democratic societies. IFES promotes democratic stability by providing technical assistance and applying field-based research to the electoral cycle in countries around the world to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil societies, governance and transparency. Founded in 1987 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and implemented comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than 135 countries.

Position Title: Program Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning, administration and logistics for special events and program activities, e.g. campaigns, workshops, trainings, focus group discussions, IFES Working Group meetings and other events;
  • Support day-to-day project activities and assist with data collection and drafting of bi-monthly and quarterly reports;
  • Prepare summaries from meetings with electoral stakeholders and other program-related meetings;
  • Provide research support on topics related to democratic governance and elections;
  • Undertake field visits as needed;
  • Provide translation and interpretation assistance as needed;
  • Contribute to overall implementation of assigned projects and programs aimed at meeting IFES’s aims and objectives in Bangladesh; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years’ experience working or volunteering with a civil society organization;
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on English/Political Science/Peace and Conflict Studies/International Relations or equivalent; master’s degree preferred;
  • Fluency in English and Bengali, both written and oral; knowledge of CHT languages and Bangla typing skills are an asset.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy.
