IFES BANGLADESH - Terms of Reference

Position Title: Program Officer - Peace and Conflict

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage subaward(s) for a countrywide program supporting peaceful electoral processes, including overseeing development of activities that are responsive to the program objectives and local political context;
  • Ensure timely completion of deliverables by subawardees;
  • Conduct trainings for subawardee or other electoral stakeholders as necessary;
  • Liaise with electoral stakeholders, especially political party representatives, in support of ongoing program activities, and provide advice on issues related to political and electoral conflict and security;
  • Lead the Electoral Conflict and Security Working Group and associated activities;
  • Manage day-to-day project activities;
  • Draft activity reports as required and provide bi-monthly and quarterly reports on program progress;
  • Undertake field monitoring visits as necessary and ensure accurate compilation of data;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Political Science/Peace and Conflict Studies/International Relations or equivalent; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working at a civil society organization and/or international organization with demonstrated experience in program and subaward management, including program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and conducting trainings for civil society representatives.
  • Sound understanding of political dynamics and political conflict in Bangladesh.
  • Fluency in English and Bengali, both written and oral.
  • A high level of self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
