The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs around 18,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments, national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC in Cox’s Bazar Office is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position:

Position : Technical Worker
Department : Finance and Administration
Number of Position : 1
Location : Cox’s Bazar
Starting date : As soon as possible
Contract Type : Full time Open Ended Contract​


  • Delivers basic technical support in areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry etc. under supervision
  • Warns immediately the hierarchy of any issues that could have negative consequences or represent a risk (technical malfunctions, accidents)
  • Ensures the premises and equipment are properly maintained and utilities are working properly
  • Maintains, repairs equipment and structure according to instructions, as well as coordinate and/or supervise any work done by external providers
  • Orders or purchases any necessary materials linked to the activities
  • Keeps accurate inventory of maintenance stock and coordinate with Logistics department on the timely replenishment
  • Any other tasks of general support in the delegation

Educational Requirements

  • Technical Diploma and professional degree, training
  • Good command of English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Professional requirements:

  • Work experience in the humanitarian and/or development field
  • 2-3 years of experience in practical work

  • Excellent sense of responsibility and confidentiality
  • Good communication, writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, respecting the established framework
