The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC delegation in Dhaka is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position

1. Position : Premise Maintenance Officer
Department : Administration
Location : Dhaka
Starting date : As soon as possible

The Premise Maintenance Officer ensures proper maintenance of ICRC premises and equipment. Advises the Finance & Administration Manager on technical aspect on issues related to up keeping of ICRC premises.

1. Main Responsibilities 

  • Ensure the premises and equipment are properly maintained and utilities are working properly
  • Maintain, repair equipment and structure according to instructions, as well as coordinate and/or supervise any work done by external providers
  • Order or purchase any necessary materials linked to the activities
  • Keep accurate inventory of maintenance stock and coordinate with Logistics department on the timely replenishment
  • Monitor the equipment of passive security and hygiene, inform the Finance & Administration Manager in case of problem and corrects the defaults when possible.
  • Keep records to related files, statistics, supervise and control maintenance-related expenses for the assigned premises.
  • Any other tasks of general support in the delegation, or give backup for the IT technician in some IT related tasks.

2. Personal Attributes and Skills Required

  • Ability to work independently, with the capacity to take initiative as and when appropriate
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; and being flexible, open to extra working hours if necessary
  • Adaptability and capacity to integrate changes and to deal with a huge volume of work
  • Ability to exercise discretion and the handling of confidential matters effectively
  • Confirmed capacity to work independently
  • Good team leadership skills

3. Professional requirements:

  • Technical diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent command of English as well as Bangla
  • Computer proficiency (desirable).
  • 3 years overall prior professional experience.
  • Humanitarian experience an asset.
  • Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
