The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC delegation in Dhaka is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position

Position : Physiotherapist

The incumbent, based in Dhaka (frequent visits to CRP Savar, CRP Chattogram and Coxs Bazar) will supervise the quality of physiotherapy service delivery at the ICRC supported P&O structures to meet ICRC standard. S/he will also contribute in the implementation of physiotherapy related activities in accordance with the defined strategy.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the physiotherapy needs are assessed and defined with regard to the population in need of physical rehabilitation services, in coordination with physical rehabilitation project team
  • Helps to promote best practices in coordination with the physical rehabilitation team and is actively involved in discussing services regarding complicated/complex cases
  • Ensures the implementation of ICRC physiotherapy standards in collaboration with the respective partners
  • Ensures the continuum of care by referring individuals in need of further rehabilitation or vocational/occupational rehabilitation after their discharge to the appropriate structure
  • Support partner’s physiotherapy staff and ensures sustainable physiotherapy practice, sets priorities and manages timely provision of physiotherapy services within an interdisciplinary approach
  • Contributes to deliver training and coaching within his/her specialty based on ICRC internal guidelines and internationally validated recommendations
  • Contributes in developing professional relationships; advocates health promotion activities and scholarly practice, so that service users benefit to the utmost from ongoing learning
  • Compiles Medical Activity Database for Physical Rehabilitation Programme and submits to PRPM on time
  • Supervises the stock consumption by partners, prepare ROs for materials needs
  • Provides clinical & technical support to clinical personnel of the assisted centers, with the objectives to improve quality of care and treatment to patients (Multidisciplinary and Inter-department)
  • Carries out supervision at the CRP Savar P&O department, related to physiotherapy services provided to P&O department patients, in coordination with ICRC PO Mobile staff
  • Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in physiotherapy.
  • Relevant additional degrees (e.g. public health, rehabilitation studies) will be considered as an asset
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Professional requirements
  • 05 years of proven professional physiotherapy experience in similar jobs/ clinical / patient treatment skills
  • Sound clinical reasoning, thorough knowledge of patient assessment and drafting of treatment plans, management, teaching / training / planning / presentation skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Experience with I/NGOs, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and/or multicultural or low-resource contexts will be preferred

  • Sound analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; and being flexible, open to extra working hours if necessary
