The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC delegation in Dhaka is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position

Position : Administrative Assistant/Social Worker-Health
Department : Health
Location : Cox’s Bazar
Starting date : As soon as possible

Main Responsibilities 

  • Creates, updates and maintains paper or electronic files, being responsible for the online departmental filing and database management
  • Follows-up on specific processes, such as logistics, field trip requests, and stock management, in line with ICRC rules and regulations
  • Drafts and finalizes correspondence, internal presentations, meeting minutes and other documents; shares information among users.
  • Updates the timeline, tables and charts, planners, schedules and other tools and maintains good collaboration with the ICRC health team in Dhaka
  • Responsible for financial administration of the health programmes in Cox’s Bazar, including the receipt and processing of invoices, liaison with commercial providers and support to our implementing partners (e.g. BDRCS) on sound financial management.
  • Prepares for meetings/trainings by setting up rooms and materials, including technical set-up for conference calls, presentations and video conferences.
  • Carries out administrative tasks such as making photocopies, destroying documents and managing stationary stocks
  • Applies information-management instructions and ensures compliance with procedures.

Personal Attributes and Skills Required

  • Ability to work independently, with the capacity to take initiative as and when appropriate
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; and being flexible, open to extra working hours if necessary
  • Adaptability and capacity to integrate changes and to deal with a huge volume of work

Professional requirements:

  • University Graduate degree in relevant subject
  • 2 years' work experience (administrative or project management) in Humanitarian sector
  • Knowledge of medical logistics and budget management would be an asset
  • Good knowledge of the assigned geographic area.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft office suite, SharePoint and IBM Lotus Notes
