The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), established in 1863, works worldwide to provide humanitarian help for people affected by conflict and armed violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, it employs some 12,000 people in 80 countries; it is financed mainly by voluntary donations from governments and from national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The ICRC delegation in Dhaka is now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated person for the following position

Position : Health Field Officer
Department : Health
Location : Cox’s Bazar
Starting date : As soon as possible

Main Responsibilities 

  • Implements, monitors and supervises the ICRC technical support to the Primary Health Care (PHC)/Health Complex (HC) program in Cox’s Bazar
  • Works closely with our implementing partners (Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and MoH)
  • Provides technical advice, training to project staff to deliver quality healthcare to patients
  • Conducts regular field visits to supervise the implementation of the projects.
  • Collects and analyses data and writes reports
  • Performs analysis of the overall health, political and humanitarian situation and develops realistic proposals in line with the delegation's objectives and priorities.
  • Represents ICRC, liaises and builds networks with local authorities i.e. BDRCS, other humanitarian actors and stakeholders
  • Carries out logistical tasks regarding medical items and organizes distributions to beneficiaries in the field when required
  • Translates, if required, documents and reports into local languages.
  • Contributes to financial monitoring of the costs involved in the project/activities supported.

Personal Attributes and Skills Required

  • Ability to work independently, with the capacity to take initiative as and when appropriate
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; and being flexible, open to extra working hours if necessary
  • Adaptability and capacity to integrate changes and to deal with a huge volume of work

Professional requirements:

  • Degree in medicine, nursing or other relevant health profession.
  • A minimum of 2 - 3 years' clinical experience with at least 2 years’ experience in humanitarian sector
  • Experience in Program Management would be an asset.
  • Clinical teaching skill at a PHC/ health promotion level
  • Knowledge of Hygiene and Infection prevention
  • Fluent in English Bangla, and Chittagonian will be considered an asset
