Training Expert

Location: Field based (Teknaf) Reports to: Technical Coordinator
Nature of Job: Full time Level: Junior level position
I. Job Context: ICCO Cooperation is a leading INGO working for securing sustainable livelihoods and justice & dignity for all in Bangladesh since 1972. We established an office in Cox’s Bazar following the influx of more than 700,000 Rohingya refugees to the area from August 2017. Our interventions are in WASH, and food security and livelihoods, with beneficiaries from both the Rohingya and host communities.
             Overall Responsibilities :  
  • The Training Expert is responsible for ensuring that all training elements of ICCO projects in Cox’s Bazar District are quality, effective, and adapted based on a lessons learned approach.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design all training modules incorporated in ICCO projects in the Cox’s Bazar area
  • Effectively train trainers and monitor the sessions these trainers run.
  • Ensure training is delivered on time according to broader project timelines
  • Establish a monitoring system that effectively checks the success of training modules
  • Utilize innovative techniques in training modules that are appropriate for the context
  • Review training module incorporating feedback/ recommendations time to time
  • Assess training effectiveness at the field and take corrective measure with the findings
  • Ensure adequate safeguarding is in place during trainings, and accountability channels are set up.
  • Based on needs assessments, proactively suggest areas where training can be utilized.
  • Build a relationship with communities we are working with.
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of reports as requested by your line manager.
  • Coordinate and build relationships with other actors in the food security and livelihood sector, local authorities, research institutes, sectors at a base level and the ICCO global team.
  • Bring technical expertise to program design.
  • Ensure all interventions meet sphere standards, and protection is mainstreamed (do no harm/social cohesion). Ensure that all trainings meet the up to date sector standards within Cox’s Bazar coordination mechanisms.
Responsibilities may vary according to project priorities.
               Working Conditions:
  • Working days from Sunday to Thursday with 40 hours per week. This position may be required to work some overtime hours
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time should be completed
  • Yearly renewable the contract based on fund availability and performance.
  • Follow ICCO HR, Admin and Finance related policy.

          Key Qualifications and requirements:
  • At least 5 years experience of working as trainer with NGO/INGO
  • Experience of developing training modules/ curriculums on livelihood skills development training
  • Experience of preparing training calendar incorporation multi-projects and multi-trainings
  • At least 7 years professional experience of working in food security and livelihood projects
  • Project management experience
  • University educated in agronomy, veterinary, socio-economic, rural development, anthropology, geography, international development, etc.
  • Further qualifications and experience in working in market systems, household economy in rural contexts, income generating activities and small business management preferred
  • Skills in approaches to training within income generating opportunity projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Motivation and commitment to humanitarian ideals and values of ICCO Cooperation. Interest in involvement beyond the job assigned, i.e. active involvement in the ethos of ICCO itself.
  • Energy and stamina to withstand long working hours in often stressful conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fluid situation, and adapt or change priorities according to changing situations.
  • Work experience in Rohingya refugee came context and host community is desirable
  • Ability to capitalize on past experience, existing networks and information existing (both internal and external to ICCO) in order to become self-sufficient quickly
  • Ability to take initiative where appropriate to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work
  • Target oriented approach
