Overview
IBTCI is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator/Assistant (RC/A) based in Dhaka, Bangladesh for its Accelerating Capacity for Monitoring and Evaluation (ACME) project. The RC/A must be a Bangladeshi national.  The RC/A will report to and assist the Chief of Party (COP) in managing evaluation and research activities for projects under Development Objective (DO) 2 of USAID/Bangladesh’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy. The RC/A will be responsible for conducting focus group discussions (FGDs) and key informant interviews (KIIs), conducting and/or managing interviews for sample surveys, preparing field itineraries for teams and ensuring logistics to the extent possible, among other related tasks. 

This position will be for 9 months, up to December 31, 2018.

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare field visit plan for the teams
  • Conduct FGDs, KIIs, and Group Meetings
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews; manage teams of interviewers, as needed
  • Prepare tables, graphs, and draft reports on FGDs and KIIs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the USAID monitoring and evaluation system
  • Work experience in conducting evaluations of USAID Agriculture projects.
  • Practical experience in data collection and analysis through KIIs and FGDs
  • Knowledge and skill in preparing tables, charts, and graphics from collected data

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in conducting face-to-face interview/survey
  • Ability to write draft reports from collected data
  • Oral and written fluency in English is required.
  • Full proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Bangladesh with evaluation teams for extended time periods
  • Ability to handle logistics issues in the field

Education:  

  • Masters’ Degree from any reputed institution in Social Science or development studies with practical experience in research methodology.

Working Environment:  Approximately 50% activity in the field.

Physical Requirements:  The position requires extensive car travel in rural areas, occasional travel by plane and boat, and physical activity, as well the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibility:  This position does not have supervising responsibilities.

Travel:  Domestic travel required
