HELVETAS is an international organization, operating in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe in the domains of water & infrastructure, environment & climate change, rural economy, skill development & education, and governance & peace. In Bangladesh, HELVETAS supports the development of rural livelihoods and local governance through  direct support to agriculture and has demonstrated experience in improving access to drinking water as well as reduction of water induced risks, including flood, erosion, and salinity targeting the extreme poor and disadvantaged. HELVETAS, in partnership with ACTED, is launching an emergency operation to respond to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis and is working in particular the sector of Site Management (CCCM) in the Camps of the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site, Cox’s Bazar.

Finance Assistant

Salaries will be based on qualifications and experience with a range between BDT 51,700-56,500 per month.

Selection criteria

The main criteria used in the selection of the Finance Assistant are the following:

  • Previous working experience in similar position, ideally in INGO
  • Excellent level of English and Bangla skills are required for writing, typing and speaking. English Language proficiency especially local dialog (Chittagonian) will be tested.
  • Experience in using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential
  • Experience in using database Accounting software is essential
  • Should have knowledge on humanitarian principals
  • Communicating with FLAT, and program team
  • Skills required: Results orientated, teamwork, flexible, commitment, stress management, high level of confidentiality, problem solving skills, ability to organize & priorities workload independently, using initiative when appropriate, and ability to act as part of multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
  • The incumbent should be organized, discreet, and people oriented. Possess strong smart personality.

Key Responsibilities

ToR’s will be provided based on expertise which includes, but are not limited to:

  • Fill in Vouchers on a regular basis and ensure registration of vouchers in the cashbook
  • Proceed with payments for all items and services
  • Check the Safe & Cashbook at the end of each day and ensure that the balance matches
  • Deal with Money Exchange, change money for the cashbooks whenever needed and register it
  • Deal with Money Transfer, registration and exchange of voucher reference
  • Deal with projects Cash for Work on a regular basis to ensure payment of field workers
  • Check vouchers quality on a regular basis
  • Check Cashbook & SAGA before closing the accountancy for the month
  • Ensure all advances are cleared for the staff, before paying the salary
  • Completing Cash request procedures and Vendor Payments in coordination with Logistics and Program

Line Management

The Finance Assistant will report to and operate under the guidance of the Finance Officer.
