For our Dhaka based Country Programme Office, we are looking for a SENIOR PROGRAMME MANAGER GENDER & SOCIAL EQUITY. The Senior Programme Manager Gender & Social Equity will foster a pro-active approach to enhancing mutual respect, acceptance and understanding between women and men, and between people of different culture, religion, ethnic background, geographical origin and position in society, throughout the HELVETAS Country Programme, its projects and the organisation. The Senior Programme Manager Gender & Social Equity will coordinate and promote processes and organisational practices that reflect the principles of social equity – taking a clear stance against social discrimination in all its forms.

This senior position is directly reportable to the HELVETAS Country Director and includes the following responsibilities:

  • To ensure that gender equality and social equity (GSE) and good governance principles are fully integrated and applied in the organisation, including workforce diversity management and sensitizing, and capacity building of programme and project staff
  • To ensure that GSE strategies and annual action plans are in place and implemented as backbone of all programme and project activities
  • To ensure that GSE is proactively mainstreamed in the programme and project cycle management, including the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative GSE data at programme and project level
  • To support the projects in the monitoring process and conduct regular field visits to ensure that GSE related aspects are covered and implementation quality is enhanced through continuous reflection and learning.           
  • To support programme and project partners in being GSE sensitive at organisational level as well as in project execution
  • To provide advice on GSE concepts, methodology, approaches and tools to projects, partner organisations and others through training and coaching
  • To represent the HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation position on GSE and programme and project specific experience and learning on GSE in thematic forums, knowledge exchange events, etc.
  • To participate actively in GSE related sharing and learning throughout HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation using the collaborative spaces (electronic and face to face meetings) provided for this purpose

Required qualifications:

  • Relevant academic degree in social sciences and/or development & gender studies
  • At least 5 years in assignments related to gender and social equity mainstreaming and capacity building, and working experience in development cooperation
  • Experience and conceptual competence in the design and development and implementation of GSE sensitive organisational, programme and project strategies and action plans
  • Knowledge and skills in the capacity building and training on sensitive approaches, methodology and tools to integrate gender equality and social equity into project activities and organisational practices
  • Track record in the facilitation of learning, knowledge sharing and advocacy initiatives
  • Strong facilitation, motivational, communication and networking skills
  • Fluency and excellent writing skills in English
