HelpAge International (HelpAge) works in over 60 countries helping older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty so they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. From its office in Kathmandu, HelpAge directly supports programmes and network partners in Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan while working with sister agencies in India and Sri Lanka to ensure the needs of older people in the region are addressed.

This post provides an exciting opportunity to provide technical support and leadership to deliver HelpAge’s DRR project in Nepal and Bangladesh. The ideal candidate will have significant technical experience and qualifications in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Demonstrable skills and competence in DRR project management, staff and partner training, and the development of DRR training manuals and guidelines are required. Relevant working experience in a similar role in the I/NGO sector will be an advantage as would knowledge of the socio-economic and political life of South Asia. A knowledge of and interest in international development and emergency work and how the sector operates would also be desirable. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this role as are excellent presentation and communication skills.
