FUNCTION:
The role of the In-Country Trainer/Training Officer is to shadow on the job and learn Enterprise Facilitator training best practices from the Sirolli Institute. At the successful completion of 12 months practice, we will award the title Master Trainer. In Country Trainer, take the approach that it is the client who should conclude that their business is, or is not, worthy of continuation. The position will become an advocate for the Enterprise Facilitator, which will expand the country projects using the Sirolli model.  This position is not to manage the Enterprise Facilitators in the field; they will be your colleagues, but rather to ensure the cohesive support of HEIFER country team to the projects in the field. The position will require you to be competent and respectful as you work directly with community volunteers

RESPONSIBILITIES
(including approximate percentage effort)

DELIVERABLES

1. Support the development of the Enterprise Facilitator, Management Board and Resource Team (60%)

  • Efficiently manage day-to-day operations of the Enterprise Facilitation project
  • Uphold and adhere to the client centered principles of Enterprise Facilitation
  • Uphold and adhere to the policies and the directions of the organization
  • Facilitate capacity building initiatives for Enterprise Facilitators, Management Board and Resource Team
  • Develop a network of communications throughout the community and at government level as needed
  • Continuously, conduct research and documentation for clients adherent with the aims and objectives of the project
  • Represent the organization to other organizations, the media, and the public at large if asked to do so
  • Assist in finding resources, volunteers, including governmental resources as needed
  • Identify innovative areas of business opportunities to develop and implement them in local, regional and national markets with the support of the enterprise facilitator.
  • Support to develop family businesses seek to generate the greatest economic and social value with a gender perspective.

2. Operation and management (30%)

  • Report regularly on operations and ensure that the Heifer Bangladesh CPO team is informed, in confidence, of all clients’ activities
  • Establish and maintain an efficient record keeping system
  • Provide a detailed report on activities carried out each month
  • Monitor and oversee the enterprise facilitators deliverables as per plan
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information

3.May perform other job-related duties as assigned (10%)

  • Perform all other duties that may be directed by the Project Management Board and the volunteer Resource Team from time to time in relation to the Enterprise Facilitation project

Minimum Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in an appropriate business subject such as, marketing, finance, administration, personnel or communications or able to demonstrate competence through experience of client based engagement and progression methods with hard to reach groups in deprived communities to enable a business to establish and grow
  • Have to have practical, personal business experience.
  • Training, teaching or facilitating experience.
  • Knowledge and experience developing best business practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in Solidarity Economy and small entrepreneurship.
  • Able to speak Understand and speaks English

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Sirolli Institute Model
  • English fluent

Most Critical Proficiencies:

  • Ability to understand and promote network building capacities
  • Ability to learn a new management coaching system
  • Ability to coach and support Enterprise Facilitators on TOM and EF methodology
  • Ability to show empathy toward clients and their proposal/problems
  • In Country Trainer must be able to discuss matters with clients in simple and practical terms. Look for a commonsense approach to problem solving and be resourceful.
  • Ability to win friends and supporters both within the community and the media.
  • An excellent communicator able to reach a wide cross-section of the community (from successful business people to unemployed young people
  • Ability to empathize with client without patronizing them
  • Respect for the client’ “speed” and “pace”
  • Ability to communicate in simple language
  • Enthusiasm for client’s success.

Essential Job Functions and Physical Demands:

  • An In Country Trainer works alone and with community volunteers and must be trusted to be well organized and self-motivated
  • Ability to allow people to make decisions for themselves.  The In Country Trainer must be a person who can wait for clients to decide when they wish to proceed with their business ideas.  In effect, this means accepting that the relationship is client directed not “expert” directed
  • In Country Trainer are disciplined, and they never call their clients; they call them back. They don’t create dependency, they empower their clients
  • A "people-person," that is, someone who enjoys mixing with people and helping them achieve their dreams.
  • A self-motivated, mature person who needs no supervision and who is performance motivated more than task motivated
