Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard
housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for
Humanity is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in
dignity and safety. Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) is a branch of HFHI dedicated to the eradication of substandard
housing and homelessness in Bangladesh. HFHB is currently looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following
position.
Compliance and Internal Control Officer (Based in Dhaka)

- S/he will responsible to identify scope of development in internal control mechanism and recommend to department
heads how to maintain or develop appropriate policies and procedures to minimize the risks.
- . Will be responsible to initiate design and conduct internal audit and provide findings with recommendation for
improvement to the National Director and Respective departments as needed.
- Maintain cross functional relationship with the AP Internal Control Manager for the Internal Control activities and its
implementation in HFHI-B.
- 4. To report to the ND on a regular basis on the status of compliance and internal control to improve the efficiency and
quality of work and to reduce Habitat’s vulnerability to fraud, abuse and waste
- To recognize practices in the overall National Program of HFIH-B that is both compliant and noncompliant to the national
laws, government approvals, GAAP, Habitat for Humanity SOE requirements, HFHI and local policies and practices, etc.
- Ensure that HFHB’s project functioning is in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Facilitate the preparation of external and internal audits in coordination with the National Director and AP Compliance
group.
- Facilitate and report compliance of all audit recommendations/action plans under the authority of the National Director
and provide accurate feedback immediately. Consolidates compliance reports for submission to AP regional office for
review of the National Director i.e. SOAR (Status of Outstanding Audit Recommendation) and SICP (Strengthening of
Internal Control Process) updates.
- To give recommendations to all departments regarding non-compliances issues, poor/inefficient processes, ineffective
and high risk financial practices and provide suggestions to improve processes and practices.
- Initiate in the identification of business risks with the process owners.
- To investigate any financial, ethical, immoral, illegal and/or improper business irregularities of HFHB staff when requested
by the ND
- Compiles risks identified and creates risk library, including best practices, for quick reference.
- Coordinate with all departments to develop Risk Control Self-Assessment (Compliance Checklist) to identify internal
control gap. Maintain ERM in coordination with ND and department heads.
- Assists in the documentation and implementation of control improvements and monitors progress
- To conduct and assist due diligence process for partnership development along with Program Manager and conduct
regular and/or special audit to the partner organizations as well as assess partner compliance with project agreement.
- To assist the Senior Finance Manager when requested in researching financial and legal inquiries in regards to Habitat’s
financial transactions and practices along with any financial irregularities in the overall national program.
Requirements:
- The ideal person should have Master Degree in Accounting; preference for those who have started/completed CA; with 2-3
years working experience in Compliance and Internal Audit with and/or External Auditing of international development
organizations
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken & written English & Bengali.
- Strong technical expertise in the field of evaluation, social investigation, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, multi-site
evaluations
- Knowledge of compliance procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods
- Capability to
handle highly confidential information discreetly and maintain a high morale with integrity and honesty.
- Knowledge of approval
and auditing procedure of NGOAB, experience to work with NGOAB in related field is preferable.
- Advance skills in MS Office
knowledge of computerized accounting and auditing record keeping systems is preferred
- High moral character with integrity and
honesty
- Stewardship of resources, transparency and accountability.
- Good Organizational Skills
- Capacity to handle multi
tasks & prioritize job responsibilities
- Willingness to visit filed frequently with self-initiatives.
Salary: Taka 45,000 gross per month and other regular benefits as per organizational policy.
