Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) is a relativity small operation dedicated to the eradication of substandard housing and homelessness in Bangladesh. HFHB is currently looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following position.

HR and Admin Manager (Based in Dhaka)

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide managerial and advisory support to ensure strategic direction for HFHI-B Human Resources management,
  • Lead the HR and Admin Team, in a manner that empowers them to deliver high quality support in line with the organizational and country rules and regulatory requirements and ensures best practices
  • Ensure all areas of HR and administration functions are aligned with HFHI HR & Administrative policies, systems & procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring recruitment and retention of highly competent, enthusiastic and diverse human resources
  • Develops, communicates, administers and maintains Human Resource policies and procedures  in line with Bangladesh law and HFHI-B policy, supporting transparency and consistency across the organization  including administrative issues  and procurement
  • Directs the Compensation and Benefits program.
  • Plans, manages and participates in annual salary and benefit survey
  • Develops and implements the performance management program, including the facilitation of the annual job plan and performance appraisals enabling all staff to reach their full potential within the organization
  • Plans, manages and participates in staff development functions including proper orientation program for new staff members
  • Keeps up-to-date and assure compliance with all labor laws and other applicable laws and regulations of the country
  • Supports and develops robust talent management practices including organization-wide commitment to the principles and practices of equality for all staff members
  • Ensures proper documentation of HR and administration in an organized manner
  • Maintain excellent quality facility, healthy, safe and secure work environment
  • Coordinate with National Director ensuring appropriate liaison with various government offices such as NGO Affairs Bureau, Home Ministry, Immigration office, Special Branch of Police (SB), National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Bangladesh Bank
  • Provide necessary support as required to prepare and submit Project Proposals with FD-6, FD-2, FD-3, FD-9, , Annual Reports and FD- 4s to obtain NGO Affairs Bureau approvals and Fund Release in a timely manner
  • Provide leadership to inspire, motivate, and build HR and Admin team capacity in pursuit of HFHI organizational objectives.

Requirements:

  • The ideal person should have Master degree in management, MBA in Human Resources Management is preferable, with fundamental understanding of Human Resources and administration principles and concepts obtained through 5+ years Human Resources and Administration work experience preferably in development sector
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, and the courage to do the right thing in a matrix management environment
  • A self starter, ability to think and act independently and make decisions within scope of job and responsibilities
  • Capability to handle highly confidential information discreetly
  • Good numerical aptitude and accuracy
  • Good organizational skills. Ability to handle a heavy workload and multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for building support with in- house staff and interacting with applicants at every stage of the process.
  • Pleasant and positive attitude
  • Bilingual; able to speak and write proficiently in English
  • This person must work effectively across cultures and with all level of personnel both at the country office and corporate offices
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Strong commitment to team management approach, including good managerial, interpersonal and negotiating skills 
  • Proven capacity to interact and negotiate with international partners, donors, government officials, corporate partners and grassroots partners
  • Proven integrity and good character especially in the stewardship of resources, transparency and accountability.
