Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) is a relativity small operation dedicated to the eradication of substandard housing and homelessness. HFHB will implement a project “Supporting the Enabling Environment for better WaSH services in Northern Bangladesh” for the period up to December 2017 funded by DFAT and looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following position under the project.

Construction Coordinator
One position based in Modhupur, Tangail

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementing all constructions of Habitat Resource Centre (HRC), including designing, estimating, budgeting, purchasing quality materials and ensuring houses are built according to plan
  • Ensuring pre-construction activity and site safety, training and coordinating all skilled and unskilled labors, providing construction orientation to the homeowners
  • Maintaining all habitat construction tools and equipments, maintaining job card during construction and verify the quality of the workmanship
  • Maintaining good quality of the construction work
  • Verifying and maintaining all the legal papers and deeds between HFHB and beneficiaries and maintain beneficiaries file
  • Providing support in developing Appropriate Construction Technology (ACT) training manual and also providing training on housing construction in the local community
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly progress reports and submit to the supervisor
  • Assist HRC Coordinator in maintaining HRC accounts and preparing monthly report.

Requirements:

  • The ideal person should have Diploma in Engineering (Civil) with 2-3 years working experience in a similar position preferably with a development organization with experience of rural house construction
  • Basic knowledge on house construction for rural low income people
  • Skill in MS Excel, MS Word, and familiarity with construction related software;
  • Sound communication skill both in English & Bengali
  • Maintain a high morale with integrity and honesty
  • Capacity to handle multi tasks & prioritize job responsibilities
  • Must have valid motor cycle driving license
  • Appropriate Construction Technique or Construction training will be an advantage.

Salary: Approximately Taka 25,000-28,000 per month (negotiable based on competency of selected candidate) with all other regular benefits.
