Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) is a relativity small operation dedicated to the eradication of substandard housing and homelessness. HFHB will implement a project “Supporting the Enabling Environment for better WaSH services in Northern Bangladesh” for the period up to June 2017 funded by AusAid and looking for interested and qualified female candidates for the following position under the project. The initial contract will be up to December 2015.

Training Officer – Gender & Health
(One position based in Mymensingh with frequent field visit to Tangail and Netrokona)

Conduct training need assessment and developing training manual (including IEC materials) on water, sanitation and hygiene practice including hygiene issues specific to women and girls   Conduct training to the community leaders, CBO/CWC members, community people, school children, and other stakeholders on gender, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion   Ensure effective integration of gender considerations into project beneficiary selection, training design and delivery, community WaSH committees formation & establishment, and all project activities coordinating with other project staff   Provide technical assistance and build the capacity of delivery team and change agents in gender & health issues    Participate in the design of baseline survey and assist project manager and other project staff to ensure that results of the baseline assessment are incorporated into project strategies and approaches   Work closely with HRC Coordinators and Project Manager, other Training Officers, Community Mobilizers, CBO & CWC leaders in the programmatic approach to ensure that gender & health is properly effectively integrated into training and technical assistance   Provide technical support to implementation team on gender & health awareness, gender harassment & gender equality mainstreaming   Collaborate with civil society organizations and government for increasing capacity to advocate on women’s rights issues and represent HFHI-B at different level where information on gender mainstreaming in the area of leadership development is requested   Collect & analyze gender disaggregated data and contribute to preparing of periodic project reports.

Requirements:
Graduation in social science, development studies, public health or a similar field preferred            At least 2-3 years working experience as trainer, preferably with a Development Organization, working with low income people, CSOs, women’s groups, and government institutions within Bangladesh   Past experience with gender & health issues in rural area of Bangladesh   Training on gender, health and personal hygiene will be an advantage   Willingness to learn and adopt new technology and methodology                         Good presentation skill; Advance skills in MS Office software   Bilingual; able to speak and write both English & Bengali   Willingness to work in a rural area on a group approach to provide WaSH support to needy families and communities   Maintain a high morale with integrity and honesty   Capacity to handle multi tasks & prioritize job responsibilities.
