Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit faith-based organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. HFH Bangladesh is currently looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following position.

Project Accounts Officer (Based in Banshkhali, Chittagong)

Responsibilities:

  • Review the cash disbursement voucher, journal voucher, deposit voucher for the project from the partner.
  • Review monthly and quarterly financial report and statements accurately and timely for the project from the partner along with necessary documents required for the donor under supervision of finance manager. 
  • Review all supporting documents from partner gathering all documents and send to national office.
  • Translate all applicable invoices to English and scan all documents as per donor requirements.
  • Reviewing income Tax and VAT on bills from the partner as per Government rules and regulations and ensuring deposit to the Government treasury in timely manner.
  • Understand, abide by, implement of all financial policies, procedures and guidelines of Habitat and ensure preparation of all required reports by required date.
  • Review the bank reconciliation and project related statements on a monthly basis.
  • Assist National Office Finance Department as per organization requirements in preparation of project budget & revisions as well as maintaining and monitoring budgetary control.
  • Maintain appropriate communication and relationship with the NO finance department as well partner staff.
  • Monitor project activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in commerce (Accounting/Management/Finance) from any recognized university.
  • 2 to 3 years working experience in accounting position in a reputed development organization
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel to project area to ensure the implementation of the accounting practices and policies, purchasing practice, vendors, assets, petty cash spending, waste, possible fraud, and other identified function understanding the management concern, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge on NGOAB rules and related legislation of governments Bangladesh.
  • Proven integrity and good character especially in the stewardship of resources, transparency and accountability and strong commitment to uphold the organization roots and principles.
  • Good organizational skills, able to handle a challenging workload and must be detail-oriented.
  • Sound English communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Frequent field visit is mandatory

Salary: Approximately Taka 45,000 per month (negotiable based on competency of selected candidate) with all other regular benefits as per organizational policy. This is a fixed term project position till December 31, 2019.
