Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) is a relativity small operation dedicated to the eradication of substandard housing and homelessness in Bangladesh. HFHB is currently looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following position.

DR3 & CCA Coordinator (Based in Dhaka)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating the overall implementation and management of DR3 & CCA projects within the constraints of the projects along with managing and directing the resources with fullest efficiency to best meet project objectives under the supervision of Senior Manager – Program Development and MEAL in close coordination with Sr. Manager- Program Implementation & Innovation.
  • Assist SM-PD & MEAL to accumulate relevant data for proposal development and funding aspects Coordinate DR3 & CCA related projects, strategic plans, policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist SM-PD & MEAL to develop project concept notes/ proposals for project funding.
  • Facilitate the drafting of the DR contingency plan and its annexes while consulting all department heads. Lead a disaster simulation for validating the contingency plan. Ensure an annual updating of the plan.
  • Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of HFHI-B and donor organizations as specified in grant agreements and trouble shoots project problems identifying and implementing creative solutions.
  • Strengthening & coordinate of DR3 and CCA capacity, approaches of HFHI-B and its partner organizations; Monitor potential disasters and be part of a multi-disciplinary team to be deployed after a disaster and assist in filling up the damage and needs assessment. Assist HR or Admin in the preparation of the business continuity plan
  • Provide regular situation reports after a disaster and supply all necessary information needed for the DR Portal.Co-lead a disaster response, putting measures in the contingency plan in effect. Ensuring compliance on DR HR, logistical and finance policies and documentation.
  • Ensure that HFHI-B’s housing projects adheres adequate disaster resilience approach and quality standards considering national building codes and international practices;
  • Coordinate the provision of disaster management and emergency preparedness training to HFHIB staff, strategic partners and potential partners and Develop & monitor a disaster response matrix for staff and volunteers to build overall capacity;
  • Contact and coordinate other NGO’s, local/international organizations who have DR3 and CCA programs to find ways that HFHI-B can collaborate with their existing disaster response programs and bring recommendation to SM- P I & I. Establish links with grassroots organizations in flood/disaster prone areas;
  • Facilitate research and data collection to discover links between needs to design initiatives to reflect broader community, sector and societal impact in order to attract diverse project funding;
  • Contribute to the design of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Accountability (MEAL) framework and the method in DR3 & CCA projects and programs for the collection of learning;

Requirements:

  • The ideal person should have Master degree in Development Studies preferably in Disaster Management with 3+ years’ experience in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptations and disaster response program management preferably with a Development Organization, working with low income people Proven experience in the successful project proposal design including budgeting of DRR, CCA and DR projects ensuring alignment with institutional donors/ funding agency requirements.
  • Working knowledge in Shelter & Settlement Sector with Disaster Resilient Construction Technologies suited to DRR & Response is preferable.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 40%) .
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skill Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skill both English & Bengali Good Organizational Skill.
  • Sound knowledge on both computer software and hardware Advance skills on MS Excel and MS Word highly developed teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem solving and group work skills.
  • High moral character with integrity and honesty
  • Capacity to handle multi tasks & prioritize job responsibilities;

Salary: Taka 50,000 gross per month and other regular benefits as per organizational policy.
