Project Monitoring and Learning Officer

About the Project:

The project ‘Healthy Futures for Waste Pickers’ aims that child, adolescent and women waste-pickers of Matuail Dhaka slums will have the knowledge, skills, rights awareness and aspirations needed to access life changing opportunities and improve their health. Locally implemented by Grambangla Unnyan Committee (Established NGO) will work closely with vulnerable children, young people and women in the fields of education, livelihoods and advocacy. Support on Advocacy and Vocational Training will be provided by technical partners Nagorik Uddyog and Nari Maitree respectively. The project is overall managed by ChildHope UK (an International NGO) with the funding assistance of the BIG Lottery Fund UK.

Location: Project Office Matuail, Dhaka; Starting July 2015

Key Relationships:

  • Reporting to Project Director, Grambangla Unnyan Committee
  • Work closely with Field Officers, Partners’ Advocacy Officer, Training Officer, Finance and Admin Staff, community committees, various platforms and NGO networks, etc.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the projects BLF’s monitoring framework in a participative way
  • In consultation with Project Director, assure that all contractual obligations are adhered to and make the necessary contacts and efforts to ensure implementation meets project targets as Gantt Chart, Outcome Indicators and set milestones.
  • Visit all activities regularly to support and monitor the project progress
  • Regular communication via meetings, phone, skype, emails with all partners and other staff
  • Compile required quarterly and annual reports on progress, including indications of planned actions and financial statements – on time and within Budget in consultation with partners
  • Encourage all staff members and partners to report frankly on fieldwork, achievement, challenges, and possible solutions plus lessons learned.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Graduate or Post Graduate in Social work/Social Sciences/International Development/ Management
  • Confident user of MS word, excel, Powerpoint, Internet, skype and email computer skills
  • Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience with National or International NGO in project management, monitoring and reviewing project activities.
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing, case studies and presentations
  • Ability to communicate in English and Bangla clearly & concisely, both orally & in writing.
 
Contract Duration and Appointment: Initially 1 year contract (6 months’ probation), with annual renewal provision until December 2018 based on performance. The professional fee will commensurate with qualification and experience maximum up to Tk.37,000-Tk.40,000 per month, depending on the experience. In addition, other facilities will be provided for local travel, training, communication and insurance.
