Job description:
Directs the sales effort, follows booking procedures and execution of contracts for convention and meeting activity. The Marketing Manager is responsible for performing related sales functions for all conventions, meetings, wedding receptions, banquets and social events. This role also solicits and develops new business on a local, statewide and national scale and provides guidance for meeting planners requiring assistance.
Job Description / Responsibility
- Ensures the successful achievement of the convention center’s short and long-term sales goals and objectives
- Issues client contracts and is responsible for obtaining required deposits and final billing statements
- Responsible for managing all operational aspects of the Convention Center
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of all mechanical and technical systems in the Convention Center
- Implementation of policies and procedures as they relate to Center operations and on-going review and addition/revisions as necessary
- Coordination of events at the Center
- Technical expertise to assist Convention Center guests with event related needs
- Maintenance of records as they relate to events and maintenance at the Center
- Active participation in marketing efforts for Center
- In house sales
- Sales calls to potential groups/events managers
- Preparation of proposals & Presentation for the Convention Center
- Event accounting and monthly reporting on Convention Center
- Supervision of Center personnel
QUALIFICATIONS & Experience
- Graduate in any discipline
- At least 5 year(s) experience
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong motivational and influential people skills
- Extensive and relevant knowledge on Convention Center
- An eye for detail and the ability to drive consistent brand standards
- Experience of managing people and driving business performance
