The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (The Federation) is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. The Federation has been working with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) for more than 30 years and also with other Participating National Societies in humanitarian fields mainly disaster response and management, cyclone preparedness, disaster relief, recovery & rehabilitation, Health, community based disaster preparedness, risk reduction and mitigation, etc.

The German Red Cross is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflict, disaster and people affected by social or health-related crisis. The German Red Cross intervenes in disaster response and rehabilitation, health, social and environmental as well as capacity building projects in cooperation with international sister organisations within the movement. German Red Cross (GRC) is working in Bangladesh under the integration agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Bangladesh Delegation. German Red Cross of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Bangladesh Delegation is searching for an experienced “Driver” (male/female) for their Cox’s Bazar Field Office.

Purpose:  
The Driver is responsible for carry out duties in accordance with the IFRC Fleet Manual and GRC Drivers Rules and Regulation and specific duties assigned by the GRC Cox’s Bazar Office. She/he will coordinate with all staff of project as well with other Drivers. She/he will assure the highest standards of service and accountability, thus contributing to the overall efficient and effective running of the vehicles under the overall supervision of Senior Representative.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

• To transport passengers and cargo safely and as instructed;
• Ensure that all occupants (including driver) of the vehicle are wearing safety belt;
• Accountable for the proper use of and security of IFRC/GRC vehicles and the equipment assigned to the vehicle;
• Performance of daily inspection according to the standard form of the inspection for vehicles;
• Ensure availability and full functioned of essential materials in cars, such as -first aid boxes, water bottles, life jackets, mosquito killing spray/bats, torch etc;
• Understand and obey all traffic laws and regulations;
• Compliance with working hours regulated. Work in accordance with the operational needs;
• All times in possession of valid driving license and other valid documents relating to the vehicle that are necessary while driving the vehicle in the street;
• Make sure that all the necessary documents are renewed when necessary;
• Take initiative and advise the supervisor or the assigned officer of needed service and maintenance of the assigned vehicles 3 days in advance;
• Carry out any other tasks as instruct by the Supervisor;

Specific duties and responsibilities in coordination matters:

• To coordinate with supervisor to prepare the duty roster if required;
• To coordinate with the Project Delegate and other staffs to carry out the assignment smoothly and effectively;

Educational attainment and relevant experience:

• Preferable of SSC but class eight pass is essential; 
• At least 10 years’ experience in driving;
• Experience in working with multi-cultural environment;
• Experience in working with Foreigner;
• Experience in solving minor vehicle maintenance problem;
• Experience in security management;

Skill & Knowledge:

• Able to understand and speak English and Bangla;
• Able to filled in the vehicle log book;
• Knowledge about the different routes of Cox’s Bazar and surroundings;
• Knowledge of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Movement;
