The FAO Representation in Bangladesh is inviting applications of qualified and experienced candidates for the following position to be filled under the Project OSRO/BGD/802/NET - SAFE PLUS: Strengthening of Market Linkages and Technical Capacity for Agricultural Groups to promote income generation in Cox`s Bazar . The Incumbent will be recruited as National Project Personnel:

Position: National Logistics Associate

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Bangladesh and direct supervision of the Emergency Programme Coordinator in close cooperation with Operations Officer, Operations Assistant, and any other project staff, the incumbent will support the project

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistic support for the receipt and distribution of forestry, agricultural, livestock and fisheries inputs and other assets procured under the project.
  • Ensure that all the equipment procured by project are recorded in an inventory list with updated status and location.
  • Be in charge of transportation of goods to the field.
  • Ensure that logistic activities are carried out in time to support field project activities and equipment functions properly.
  • Produce comprehensive reports related to Logistic operation, also prepare reports for any loss and damage of procured equipment on timely manner.
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management and strengthen partnerships on the humanitarian supply chain.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of the office equipment and report to supervisor any malfunctions of utility service provisions.
  • Act as Custodian for management of office stationery supplies including maintenance of stock list of stationery, distribution of stationery as required by staff and keeping a log of distribution.
  • Ensures that all FAO vehicles are well equipped (communication equipment, toolboxes, etc.); and oversees and ensures proper maintenance and management of vehicles and drivers e.g. repair, maintenance.
  • Coordinates the movements and activities of the Drivers.
  • Certifies that all the vehicle logbooks are properly recorded by the drivers and monitor the fuel consumption on monthly bases and reported to the supervisor.
  • Provides a weekly roster for drivers, schedules vehicles/drivers on a daily basis and plans for upcoming field missions.
  • Prepares TAs for drivers going on field mission.
  • Produces a monthly vehicle costs report for review by the Operations Officer;
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Academic qualifications /Technical Competencies:

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field preferred.
  • At least five (3) years of progressively responsible experience in Logistics and motor vehicle transport operations management is required. Experience in Logistics, transport planning and spare parts management is desirable. Experience within the context of a humanitarian relief, military, emergency management, peacekeeping or disaster relief operations is an advantage
  • Demonstrates ability to manage diverse transport operations; ability to review alternative options, select most effective, and cost efficient mode of transport ability to provide leadership.
  • Knowledge of policies and guidelines pertaining to transport operations and related matters; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations.
  • Good communication skills and good experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);

Duty Station: Cox’s Bazar

Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
