Terms of Reference for hiring the Curriculum Designer-Consultant for the Equipping young people (EYP) from marginalised communities of Lalmonirhat district under Rangpur division of Bangladesh with life skills education to complete secondary school project funded by Magic Bus Global and Implemented by Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO).

JD for Curriculum Designer-Consultant

The curriculum designer’s responsibilities include creating detailed, engaging curriculums and quality resources, liaising with subject experts, and outlining objectives within feasible timeframes.

Language:


The person should be proficient in Bengali and English. He or she will need to translate Bengali documents into English and vice versa.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing effective curriculum
  • Experience with instructional design principles and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred experience

  • Understanding of Digital literacy.
  • Experience or working on life skills.
  • Understanding of Educational Theory and Pedagogy
  • Knowledge of Curriculum and Instructional Design
  • Technology Integration in Education

Scope of the Work: 

  • Gap identification: Identifying gaps in the existing curriculum of life skills (well-being, life and livelihood, digital literacy) being implemented in Bangladesh.
  • Creating new content: The consultant shall design and develop new sessions of life skills curriculum for Years 1, 2, and 3 to meet the required outcome.

Content should be age-appropriate, achieve required outcome and be aligned to the framework. Content should be aligned to the National Curriculum Framework of Bangladesh and achieve outcomes shared with them.

Each session will have several components:

  • Indoor and outdoor activities
  • Reflection
  • home tasks
  • work sheets
  1. Edit or tweak the existing curriculum on life skills (well-being, life and livelihood, digital literacy) for years 1, 2, and 3. 
  1. Contextualization: Existing content will need to be contextualised to make it appropriate for children in Bangladesh.
  2. Create Assessment: Create relevant assessments as and when needed.
  3. Facilitator Guide-Prepare a facilitator's guide for all the sessions in the required template.
  4. Curriculum testing-Test the curriculum at community level with field staff and train key field staff. Prepare the final copy based on the feedback and field-testing resul
  5. Conversation with different stakeholders -Discuss possible approaches and curriculum with concerned staff, government staff (Ministry of Education), and representatives from other agencies.
  6. Meeting Timeline-Sessions must be submitted on a rolling basis, maintaining a timeline. After receiving the feedback, the Consultant is required to work on the edits and submit the final document. The consultant must be prepared to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment and submit quality work.

First draft of five sessions to be submitted. 12 may
Feedback to be given by MB team 14 may
Final 5 session to be ready by MB Team 17th May
Expecting all 20 sessions to be finally ready by 26th May
Follow up and continuous adjustment Till 30th  June
