Educo Bangladesh is looking for a Child Protection Officer for Rohingya Response Program

We are Spain based global development NGO with more than 25 years of experience that works for the interest of Children and in defense of their rights, especially the right to a quality education. In Bangladesh, Educo has been working since 1999 with aims to empower Children to express their views, ideas and opinions, and to exercise leadership. At the same time, Educo works with duty bearers, especially Parents and Local Government Institutions, to create an enabling environment for Children where they can influence the decisions that affect them.

However, Educo Bangladesh is going to launch a new Program at Cox’s Bazar, named Rohingya Response Program", subject to the approval of the Government of Bangladesh. The Organization is now looking for a Child Protection Officer for this new Project.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Child Protection Officer, under the supervision of the Project Manager,  is responsible for the implementation of activities and helps the Project Manager in a wide range of project activities, including monitoring of progress guaranteeing the program quality standards; provide guidance to CP Facilitator and Community Mobilizer; and contribute inputs to best adapt project/program activities for better impact in the camp villages on child protection. This is a field-based position, and the Child Protection Officer should expect to spend 4 to 5 days per week in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement project activities and ensure consistent/appropriate use of resources, delivery proceeding on schedule and operational demands are within project parameters and standards of quality;
  • Identify issues of consistency in project implementation and recommend remedial approaches to sustain and advance quality;
  • Review project components, develop project detailed plan with budget and timelines in line with the implementation of the project;
  • Monitor project implementation through site visits, prepare reports on status of the project implementation, identifying operational issues, and recommend appropriate solution/s;
  • Provide guidance/support to CP Facilitator and Community Mobilizer and contribute inputs to best adapt project/program activities for better impact on child protection in the camp villages;
  • Develop and maintain partnership/collaboration, build capacity of and provide technical assistance to the camp protection units, learning facility teachers/workers, and other stakeholders towards building effective partnership and collaboration in establishing protection mechanism in the refugee camp.

COMPETENCIES:
EDUCATION:
  • University Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work/Development Studies and / or any related field.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-3 years of experience in child protection work and or child protection in emergency work, building/strengthening child protection system, and prevention and response to violence against children
  • Experience in project management related to child rights, child protection in emergency (CPiE).
  • Skills and experience in empowering children and communities (e.g., communication, facilitation, negotiation, training) an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully initiate and maintain positive relationships with different stakeholders is vital to effective performance.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and work cooperatively with team members is required.
LANGUAGE:
  • Position requires language skills in both English and Bangla at an advanced level. Knowledge about local dialect of CXB is preferred.
  • Very good communication skills, both verbally and in written.
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge and experience on Child Protection/Child Protection in Emergency, child rights
  • Knowledge of Sphere standards and other training in humanitarian response preferred
  • High computer literacy with a full knowledge of office applications

SALARY:
Consolidated monthly salary will be BDT. 63,000. Salary is negotiable based on Competency, Experience and Salary history.
