Education and Development Foundation-Educo is an International NGO . Educo (member of ChildFund Alliance in Spain) is a global development NGO. We defend children’s rights and promote sustainable social change by improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations, especially children. Our action is based on the Convention of the Rights of the Child. Our three institutional goals are: education, protection and governance.

Educo currently has its geographical intervention in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Mymensingh and Moulvi Bazar in Bangladeash.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS JOB?

The Director of Program - Resource Mobilization and Visibility will take overall responsibility for the generation of incomes/resources by enhancing impact, influences and innovations of EDUCO’s children focused community development programmes. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) in Dhaka office, the Director is responsible for three core areas: Resource Mobilization; Sponsorship; and Communications. S/he needs to work as a ‘think tank’ and develop appropriate strategies to develop proposals, access resources, achieve higher visibility by stimulating/revitalizing the Communications department including capturing/representing the impact of EDUCO Bangladesh along with better geographic targeting of the sponsorship program. In summary, it requires close coordination with MEL and conceptualization of these three thematic/programmatic areas (i.e. Communications, MEL and Sponsorship) and synchronize them in a manner to strike higher impacts, which will contribute accessing/acquisition of resources and visibility of EDUCO. In addition, the job holder is also accountable for the internal (i.e. EDUCO and other CF Alliance funding) and external (i.e. NGO Affairs Bureau and other donors) compliances. The job holder will report to the Country Director.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. RESOURCE MOBILIZATION : (Ensure a secure, reliable and diversified funding base for EDUCO programs, including through):

  • Developing an institutional funding strategy that identifies funding needs and opportunities;
  • Overseeing relations between EDDUCO and its funders;
  • Ensuring program management costs are recovered from funders;
  • Leveraging EDUCO’s funding opportunities within the ChildFund Allaince;
  • Ensuring effective collaboration with the EDUCO Regional team responsable for resource mobilization

2. PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT:

  • Working closely with the technical specialists in each sector, s/he will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of grant acquisition processes, leading in proposal development and donor liaison and will track grants acquisition performance metrics.
  • S/he will build the capacity of other staff in resource acquisition, and provide backstopping support to projects as needed.

3. SPONSORSHIP:

  • S/he will provide oversight in the overall management of the sponsorship program port-folio incluidng:
  • Proactive engagement of the sponsored children with the existing projects to enhance impacts of their wellbeing;
  • Be accountable to maintain the legal requirements between the EDUCO sponsor donors and their children;
  • Ensure proactive communications with the sponsored donors for any issues related to child protection;
  • Provide leadership for the efficient management of the sponsorship process i.e. photos, art work, coding etc; provide the necessary information/communications to individual donors;

REQUISITES

The post holder will have a proven track record in developing excellent proposals, fundraising, with experience in managing a donor portfolio of government and private sector funds, and relationship management of high level institutional donors. S/he will provide leadership in the quality maintenance and growth of the sponsorship programme and management of the communications department to better synchornise the grants acquisition, imapct and visibility of EDUCO. More specifically:

  • Strong understanding of a child rights-based approach and a gender approach;
  • Good knowledge of different participatory methodologies in every phase of a project cycle;
  • Prove experience of working with a results based management.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office (Sharepoint; Advanced Word; Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • A demonstrated commitment to Educo’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal, written, electronic); ability to communicate complex, technical information in a simple and articulate manner
  • Ability to adapt the international strategy in the local context;
  • Ability to speak and/or write in Spanish will be considered an asset

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven track record of active contribution to a senior management team, and providing strategic support across multiple sectors and geographic areas
  • A very good understanding of the sectoral programs and a working knowledge of the program priorities of the Country Office (Education, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, DRR, Food Security and Livelihoods, Early Childhood Development, WASH, Emergency Response, etc.)
  • Significant experience of NGO project cycle management, and has experience of working matrix organization structure
  • Experience with Program management of institutional donors projects (i.e., ECHO, EU, USAID, DFID, etc.) highly desired.
  • Strong program management, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to spend up to 30% of his/her time in field
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills;

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION:

Master’s degree in Education, Development Studies, or other Social Sciences, preferably from any foreign recognized University will be preferred highly

REMUNERATION:

Gross annual salary of BDT 2.585.800 (all inclusive). .

DURATION OF CONTRACT:

Permanent position with a probationary period of 6 months.
