Project: Improving the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable farmers groups in Sharankhola and DakopeUpazilas through sustainable, climate-adapted farming and disaster risk reduction measures

Project Background: The project has been intended to improve the livelihoods of 3,000 vulnerable farmer families in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat district and Dakope Upazilas  of khulna district who are mostly landless and marginal farmers through sustainable, climate-adapted and disaster risk management measures. For this purpose, farmers groups would be trained in climate change-adapted farming, income-generating activities, which would provide scope for alternatives to existing sources of income. By planting local timber and fruit trees, the groups contribute to adaptation and, hence, contribute to safe guarding the environment. The establishment of a disaster risk reduction preparedness system at community level involving early warning systems, awareness-building programmes in schools and among the population enables life to be protected and increases resilience to climate change and weather-related influences.

The 3-year project scheduled to be phased out on 31 December 2018. Now DSK and KNH are inviting offer from the qualified individual consultants or consulting firms to conduct a n end of project evaluation. Details of the ToR are attached herewith.
