VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Development Wheel (DEW) is looking for a candidate for its Alternative Livelihood Options (ALO) project which is a four-year project co-funded by the BIG Lottery Fund and Traidcraft Exchange. The project will develop sustainable livelihoods for small-scale farmers, including women and ethnic minorities, in Netrokona, Mymensingh and Sherpur districts, Bangladesh. Application is invited from suitable candidate for the following position of the stated project. This position is for fixed term (maximum up to 31 October 2016).

Field Mobilizer (01 post) (Location: Jhinaiganti upazila): The position is contractual for  24 months and will directly report to the Field Coordinator

Brief Job Descriptions: The Field Mobilizer will be responsible for grassroots level social mobilization such as group formation and maintenance, organize group based training workshops, etc and will be directly report to the Field Coordinator. Broadly s/he would:

  • Mobilize farmers and assist them in forming groups.
  • Organize and conduct FGDs with targeted beneficiaries to have a thorough understanding of their training and other needs
  • Assist field coordinator in conducting training, workshops etc
  • Mentor and guide groups in proper group management
  • Monitor group based activities on a regular basis
  • Maintain close liaison with upazila level stakeholders for smooth running of the project activities

Requirements:

  • Must be Diploma in Agriculture  
  • Must have 2 to 3 years experience preferably in similar role
  • Must have good communicative ability and flare for developing quick friendly relationship with mostly illiterate poor and vulnerable population
  • Must have good facilitation skills
  • Must have valid driving license to ride motorbike
  • Must have willingness and ability to work and travel to very remote villages within the project area
