Democracy International, Inc., a USA based international organization, is implementing a USAID project entitled Promoting Peace and Justice (PPJ) in Bangladesh for a period of three years. USAID’s PPJ program is designed to directly address the factors currently constraining Bangladesh’s justice system and seeks to collaborate with government and CSO counterparts to expand access to justice.

USAID PPJ program is recruiting a mid-level professional for the Finance and Operations Assistant position. This is a full time position based in Dhaka.

Key Responsibilities:

The Finance and Operations Assistant will work with Democracy International (DI) team to assist all finance and administration of PPJ operations in Bangladesh. Under direct supervision of Finance and Operations Manager the Finance and Operations Assistant will: 

  1. Record financial transactions and perform bookkeeping and archiving activities.
  2. Perform financial transaction records audit and integrity check.
  3. Assist finance department in all aspects of operations and financial records, including bank transactions, tax reporting and bill processing and vendor payments. 
  4. Other similar responsibilities DI might reasonably request.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  1. B.Com/M.Com from a reputable university;
  2. Minimum 2 year of related experience, preferably within a U.S. Government/USAID project environment;
  3. Sound knowledge of Bangladesh VAT and Income Tax regulations;
  4. Excellent command of English, verbal and writing;
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including advanced expertise in Excel;
  6. Ability to work well within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
  7. Good interpersonal skills and problem solving abilities;
  8. Well organized, strong filing and archiving skills;
  9. Ability to multi-task and strong commitment to meeting deadlines;
  10. Proven integrity and thorough attention to details are inherent to this position.
