Democracy International, Inc. (DI), a USA based international organization, seeks experienced Deputy Regional Coordinator candidates for the multi-year USAID Bangladesh SPL Strengthening Political Landscape program (SPL) promotes broader participation in politics especially among women and youth, improves the environment for responsive politics and promotes peaceful election process. The primary responsibility of the position will be work with Democracy International team to manage regional operations and programs.

DI is recruiting professionals for the following full-time positions for its regional centers:

Job Location: Bogra, Barishal, Khulna, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chittagong and Rangpur 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional program design, development and implementation; undertake and coordinate diverse activities and priorities and ensure all annual targets are achieved maintaining high quality results.
  • Maintain close communication and coordination with programmes tasks, support NGOs, and public service providers and ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Prepare monthly reports, quarterly and annual progress reports and ensure that all required documentation are maintained at field offices.
  • Maintain close coordination and liaison with city corporation and municipal authorities and develop effective partnerships with them.
  • Provide operational guidance to staff, arrange meetings, travel and events for partner groups, individuals, and DI staff related to the work of the regional office, generally; financial, administrative and logistics tasks related to the establishment and ongoing needs of the regional office.
  • Ensure that program activities are completed as per organizational plans and donor requirements; conduct and arrange trainings, awareness sessions, meetings, advocacy related seminars and workshops, and prepare quantitative and qualitative reports under the overall guidance of the Program Manager.
  • Identify potential risk factors/ areas that can hamper programme implementation and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

Educational Requirements: Minimum master’s degree, preferably in political sciences/social sciences/ international relations/ development studies/peace building or any other relevant subject.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated professional skills and experience in project coordination and implementation;
  • Clear understanding of youth and women’s empowerment policies and programs in the political context of Bangladesh;
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills both in English and Bangla;
  • Effective networking and interaction with public and non-profit organizations, including political parties, youth and woman organizations, volunteer groups, social forums etc.;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Prior experience with USAID projects, procedures, policies and reporting skills;
  • Excellent ICT and computer skills, especially MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and research on the Web;
  • Possess high level of integrity and maintain work ethics.
