Democracy International, Inc., a USA based international organization, is implementing a project with the financial support from USAID and UKaid for a period of five years entitled Democratic Participation and Reform (DPR) in Bangladesh. DI’s DPR program activities seek to promote broader participation in Bangladeshi political parties, especially among women and youth, encourage support for internal political party reform, strengthen the capacity of parties to access and utilize information, and improve the environment for more responsive politics.
DI is recruiting professionals for the following full time positions for its regional women and youth center in Chittagong:

Deputy Regional Coordinator-Chittagong, for the duration from March 2015 to January 2016

Position Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • She will be responsible for:
  • Assisting regional program design, development and implementation
  • Conduct and arrange trainings, awareness sessions, workshops, meetings, advocacy related seminars and other relevant diverse activities
  • Ensure that program activities are completed as per organizational plans and donor requirements
  • Monitor and supervise project staffs, and
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative reports under the overall guidance of the Program Manager

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum bachelors degree, preferably in social sciences;
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated professional skills and experience in:
    • Conducting trainings and workshops
    • Implementing advocacy campaigns
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills in a formal setting;
  • Effective networking and negotiation with public and non-profit organizations, and senior government and political party officials;
  • Clear understanding of political context of Bangladesh;
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills both in English and Bangla;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent ICT and computer skills, especially MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and internet research;
  • Create and maintain budgets;
  • Knowledge of the Division and surrounding area;
  • Possess high level of integrity and adaptability.
