Case Worker - National Position

Programme: Humanitarian Response

Contract duration: Six Month possible to extend (starting date 1st of December, 2018) 

Position Location: Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh with frequent field visits

DCA (DanChurchAid) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and believe in life before death. The DCA Bangladesh invites applications from qualified and competent Bangladeshi candidates for the position of Case Worker for Humanitarian Response in Cox’s Bazar.

The Case Worker will work as part of the WGSS Team and will be responsible for providing direct case management and psychosocial services, including group-based psychosocial activities through safe space services to conflict-affected women and girls and survivors of GBV.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate case management to survivors of GBV, including assessment of survivor’s needs; basic crisis counselling; supporting survivor’s in developing a plan to address their individual needs and safely implementing this plan; support to clients in pursuing services from other service providers as per survivor’s wishes
  • Provide services to adolescent girl survivors of GBV, including case management, age appropriate engagement and decision-making by survivors, Do No Harm analysis, and safety planning
  • Provide group psychosocial support to women and girls; facilitate sessions focused on building awareness of different themes related to their wellbeing, safety planning, and deliver key messages on GBV
  • Provide essential information on available services and support survivors in navigating the referral pathways and accessing services
  • Lead age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services for adolescent girls through identified or established safe spaces.
  • Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols and GBV guiding principles and bring these concerns to the GBV Response Officer.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers.
  • Document all program and beneficiary’s activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and forms.
  • Complete weekly and monthly activity reports, according to guidance provided by the GBV response Officer Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, etc.) but we preferred for Psychology background and 1 (One) year of relevant experience
  • Experience in counselling, social work, women’s sexual and reproductive health, or others related field
  • Clear understanding of and interest in the wellbeing of women and girls, and supporting their healing after the experience of violence
  • Understanding of case management, psychosocial support and life skills programming to promote survivor healing and recovery
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for survivors.
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
  • Strong ability to maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, and work in a difficult environment
  • Fluency in Rohingya language is required.
