Program: Rohingya Refugee Program
Contract duration: 6 months. The position is subject to funding.
Position Location: Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Purpose of the job:

With the support of the team leader, the Life skills & Recreational Activities Facilitator will plan and conduct life skills sessions for adolescent girls and women on various topics such positive coping mechanisms, health or security risks. Additionally the facilitator will support girls and women with recreational activities such as needlework or tailoring. The activities will take place in the Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) and mobile.

Planning and implementation 

  • Assist the team leader with the day-to-day operation.
  • Prepare lessons; Facilitate and lead life skills and recreational activities for women and girls in the safe space.
  • Ensure that activities are conducted in agreement with the WGSS rules, guidelines and are culturally appropriate.
  • Maintain an appreciative and welcoming atmosphere in the WGSS.
  • Provide WGSS attendees with information regarding the available services at the WGSS and in the camps.
  • Track and report on attendance of the different activities.
  • Track and report on supply utilisation at the WGSS.
  • Ensure that the WGSS is kept clean and in an orderly manner.

Professional skills and qualifications needed in the position

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Social work, psychology, sociology, etc.)
  • 1 year relevant working experience;
  • Background in teaching or vocational skills are an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Accomplish individual and collective assignments given by her supervisor.
  • Have a good understanding of situation of Rohingya population and issues female population faces.
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum is considered an advantage.
  • Undertake other duties that may be determined by the supervisor.
  • Good team work skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Fluency in Rohingya language is required.
  • Persons with skills in sewing, knitting, craft-making or similar are strongly encouraged to apply.
