POSITION : Chief Commercial Officer, Damco Bangladesh – Dhaka

Position Summary:  This position requires being the part of senior management team, actively contributing to the development of the Company's corporate strategy, with particular reference to the development of the company's commercial objectives, sales strategy, channels of development and meeting monthly as well as annual targets. The core objective of the position is to drive the commercial mindset in the organization to achieve new business from current and potential customers in Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Strategy

  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure country’s commercial objectives are met.
  • Create strategies for sales approach and execution plans to meet and exceed targeted revenue levels.
  • Ensure the team strategies are successfully implemented.
  • Solicit, develop and maintain business relationships at senior levels in the customers’ organizations to support sales teams.
  • Manage and drive sales performance by investing in and maintaining the commercial teams to ensure sustainable profitability and growth.

Business Development

  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring delivery targets for all teams in the commercial organization – calls/wins/conversions/churn/renewals
  • Deliver the new and additional business growth in all sales segments in line with seasonalised targets/budgets.
  • Drive product development
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Sales Pipeline is sufficient to deliver the top line growth targets taking into consideration churn, conversion rates, win rates and renewals.
  • Developing value propositions and service concepts that create customer value within the context of the companies’ capabilities.
  • Manage opportunity mapping for field sales targets
  • Providing the company with the driving force through successful handling of both short and long-term commercial proposals including Tender Management including cross border bids.
  • Support development and closure of cross border sales opportunities together with relevant country managers.
  • Establishing Damco as a major logistics brand known to customers, vendors and industry.
  • Creation and follow up on the country sales pipeline. Making sure that the required number and value of future opportunities exist for healthy business outlook

Leadership

  • To develop direct reports and the commercial organisation at large to deliver successfully through training and management development, this specifically includes coaching on sales skills with emphasis on closing the sale.
  • To ensure adequate staff planning plans are in place for the commercial organisation.
  • Succession and People development plan.
  • Drive commercial mindset in the organization

Customer Champion

  • Ensure, in collaboration with CFO, the commercial engagement in the management of outstanding with customers.
  • Responsible for providing industry and customer input for service and product development.
  • Assist Chief Operational Officer in establishing operational procedures based on competitive industry and customer expectation.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering the overall CM1 in accordance with the budgeted growth.
  • Show aggressive growth in potential market segments of ocean import, air.
  • Drive financial improvement plans
  • Budget and FYE ownership

Position Specifications:

Education: Post graduate from recognized university

Experience: Minimum 15+ years of experience in the relevant field. At least 5-7 years in managerial role. 

Language: The position requires excellent English in written and verbal communication skills
