Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD) emerged from an emotional response to help women in need of reproductive health care counseling services. The organization, originally named as “Concerned Women for Family Planning (CWFP), started its voluntary activities in 1974 to help the refugees coming to Dhaka city after the devastating famine of 1974. The organization was registered in 1975 with Directorate of Social welfare and formally launched its project activities in 1976 with only five female staff to cover an area of Dhaka city slum comprising around 50,000 population.
CWFD is a non-political, non-profit voluntary organization run by women of Bangladesh to support, promote and protect the interest of women in Bangladesh by providing community-based health care, empower community to exercise their rights to eliminate social injustice, creating economic opportunities, empower underprivileged youth of urban and rural population and develop human resources for a positive social change. Project background: The project is supported by the Government of Japan responds to the need of vulnerable women and girls in Noakhali District, including the host community as well as Rohingya Refugees to (1) improving access to comprehensive, high-quality SRH services, with a special focus on women, girls and persons with disabilities, (2) protecting the dignity and safety of women and girls through offering survivor centered GBV prevention and response services through amongst others provision of Women Friendly Spaces, and (3) empower adolescents and youth with the skills and knowledge to strengthen their psychological resilience and express their rights to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives.
Furthermore, the project aims to strengthen the quality of and linkages between targeted health facilities in Noakhali District Sadar Hospital, Hatiya Union Health Clinic, and several health facilities in Bhashan Char, thereby including both “upstream” (adolescent, youth, and GBV prevention programming) and “downstream” (clinical referral and response services, information and provision of SRH commodities) activities.
Purpose of the consultancy:
The purpose of the consultancy is to provide training on story collection with audio-visual documentation to the adolescent girls of Kishori Resource Center (KRC) and eventually develop a highly impressive case story book (both in Bangla and English) containing maximum 20 stories from the project beneficiaries of KRCs of Noakhali Sadar.
