Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. With its head quarter in Ireland, Concern has been working in Bangladesh since 1972.

Civil Society Alliance for Scaling Up Nutrition, Bangladesh (CSA for SUN, BD) is a member based alliance or network comprising of different national and international organisations. This is a non-political, non-profit, national nutrition alliance, which has formally launched on October 31, 2012. The CSA for SUN, BD members advocate with the support to the Government and other stakeholders to ensure ownership and facilitate strategic actions to combat malnutrition. Concern Worldwide, Bangladesh is the secretariat of CSA for SUN, BD from February, 2016.

Currently, Concern worldwide is inviting Expression of Interests (EOIs) from reputed and experienced consultancy firms/ individuals to conduct a review on Nutritional Research (Specific and Sensitive) been done in the context of Bangladesh over the last 10 years and beyond and what needs to be done to support accelerating implementation of the Second National Plan of Action on Nutrition (NPAN2).

Purpose of the Consultancy: The purpose of the consultancy is to identify the gaps and needs for effective implementation of NPAN2.

Specific Tasks to be undertaken by the Consultant(s):

  • Review existing nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive research documents and evaluations available within the context of Bangladesh.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of the relevant nutrition policy, national plan of action, current and emerging nutritional issues, 7th National Five Year Plan and SDGs.
  • Conduct comprehensive interviews (external and internal) with Government representatives, CSA for SUN members, renowned nutrition experts (Recommended by CSA) and other Food right and nutrition networks active in Bangladesh etc.
  • Based on desk review of NPAN2, NNP and other related documents and consultations, prepare the gaps of NPAN2. Lead a Dissemination Workshop with the relevant stakeholder at national level with the recommendation of the study.

Qualification Requirements for the consulting firm/lead consultant(s):

  • Masters or higher degree in relevant field(s).
  • At least 10 years’ experience of working preferably in the health and nutrition sector in Bangladesh.
  • In-depth and proven knowledge and experience of conducting research, developing TOR etc.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Health and Nutrition sector policy and strategies - particularly NPAN2 and the challenges faced by the government and non-govt. agencies and institutions within the broader context of Bangladesh.
  • Proven experience of facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement through workshop and consultation to reach specific and coordinated outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills in English
