Title of the Position: Accounts and Finance Officer
Number of Position: Two (02)
Type of Contract:  One (01) year fixed-term contract with possibility of further extension based on available funding
Gross Annual Salary range (inclusive of Festival Bonus & Gratuity): As per organization’s policy
Duty Station: Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • To ensure cash, cheque, and other payments and receipts are made in a timely way, with complete and accurate documentation, in such a way as to provide professional and friendly customer service and enable smooth programme implementations.
  • Take initiative that that staff understands the payment and advance receiving procedures, timing, templates and required documentation.
  • Disburse cash, cheques and payment advice in a timely way to payees with utmost accuracy and professionalism; proactively keeping close contact with bank and respective recipients so that partners and suppliers receive their funds timely and any problems are minimised.
  • Ensuring professional, accurate and timely record keeping and reporting for the field’s financial transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain Income statement from Dhaka office, cheque register and letter issue register as per CWW format.
  • Work with colleagues in Head Office to respond promptly to resolve any queries or questions.
  • Ensuring adequate funds are available for field office operations and partners to enable smooth implementation of programme activities.
  • Maintain close liaison with HO and Concern bank to ensure funds are available according to the need.
  • Ensuring all necessary information relating to bank and cash is provided to Head Office as required, including year-end bank information and bank reconciliation to HO to fulfil Dublin requirement.
  • To enable fixed assets to be properly tracked and controlled and complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensuring up to date knowledge on the field based legal financial requirements and ensure all requirement are addressed and fulfilled accordingly.
  • Support Administration and Head Office to review implementation of fixed asset policies and be part of the periodic fixed assets verification process.
  • As a member of the Finance team to proactively provide high quality and effective support and resourcing services to staff of the organisation.
  • Contribute to the process of implementing quality programmes by ensure that the HAP standard of accountability is conceptualized and effectively implemented throughout the organization, and at the country programme level.

Key Requirements:

  • Education and aptitude:
  • M Com (Accounting), or CA course completed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Job related experience and knowledge:

  • At least 2 years progressively responsible field work experience in financial management in a development organisation, preferably in international agency.
  • Knowledge of current relevant taxation laws.
  • Good understanding on internal control process.
  • Good understanding of development work in the Bangladesh programme
