The Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP) is a poverty reduction programme operating in the north western districts of Bangladesh (Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Pabna, Tangail and Jamalpur). The Programme is jointly funded by UKaid through the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and is managed by Maxwell Stamp PLC. The Programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD & C), and executed by the Rural Development and Cooperative Division (RDCD), Ministry of LGRD&C, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

CLP is inviting applications from experienced and qualified individuals for the following position for 12 months in its Vocational Training for Adolescents Project under Human Development Unit. Position: Vocational Training Monitoring Officer (based in Rangpur district)

The incumbent will be responsible for overall supervision, monitoring and coordination of the project to ensure that two contractors are delivering quality training and offering on the-job-training in different shops, garages, and factories/ industries. S/he will maintain regular coordination and liaison with CLP IMOs (partner NGOs), the contractors and job placement employers, factories, industries/workshops, garages and shops etc. The VTMO will report and be accountable to the CLP District Social Development Manager.

Requirements
The position requires a candidate with experience in different technical and vocational trades of vocational training with any NGOs/training institutes. More specific requirements are as follows:

  • Should have Masters Degree in any subject or a Diploma in electrical/mechanical engineering with solid working experience in vocational training for under-privileged adolescents/youth;
  • Should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical and vocational training/ projects and at least 2 years at a supervisory level ;
  • Demonstrated ability in facilitating, implementing, monitoring and supervision of technical and vocational training activities/ projects;
  • Should have excellent inter-personal, facilitation, project management, monitoring and report writing skills;
  • Should have experience of on-the-job coaching and job placements;
  • Willingness to reside in Rangpur with extensive travel to island char villages and different districts (Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Pabna, Tangail, Jamalpur and Dhaka);
  • Ability to work in a physically and socially challenging environment;
  • Excellent communication skills both in Bangla and English;
  • Should be well conversant with the MS Office.

Salary: Gross salary up to BDT 50,000 per month depending on current salary, qualifications and experience.
