About CHRF
Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a non-profit research organization in Dhaka, Bangladesh, registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau. Founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on treatment and prevention of infectious diseases through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different international organizations like World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), etc.  

We invite application to fill the position of “Research Physician”. They physicians will primarily be involved with our ongoing bacterial and viral vaccine-preventable surveillance study. The objective of this long-term project is to monitor trends of pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis and enteric fever. Data generated from our studies have facilitated the introductions of Hib and pneumococcal vaccines in Bangladesh.

Salary range: BDT 45,000 – 55,000 (depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate)

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment of children less than five years of age to determine eligibility for enrolment in a research study
• Obtain parent’s consent for enrolment in the study
• Conduct daily follow up of enrolled babies at the hospitals as per protocol
• Collect demographic, vaccination and clinical information using structured questionnaire
• Ensure that SOP is followed at each of the activities
• Regularly share the progress and challenges with project coordinators and investigators
• Liaise and coordinate with other study personnel like research assistants and nurses

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) with completed of internship and with good academic records.
• At least one year experience in pediatrics and/or in research settings
• Computer literacy is essential
• Research experience in studies of mother and child health or infectious disease will be an added advantage
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Bangla and English are preferred
• At least 5 years of experience on public health research or project management/coordination; experience of working in community and hospital settings will be preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Bangla and English
• Must possess problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Must be enthusiastic to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and be willing to take initiatives
