The Director of Quality Assurance and Improvement

Background. Chemonics seeks a Director of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Advisor for the Advancing Universal Health Coverage (AUHC) project. The objective of this initiative to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through the establishment of a sustainable pro-poor social enterprise. This position is responsible for leading project result 4, which is to improve and maintain the quality of care offered in 399 Surjer Hashi Network (SHN) clinics. In addition, reporting to the incubator director, this position serves as a member of the AUHC senior management team assisting the chief of party and other senior project team members manage the AUHC project.

General Summary. The Director of Quality Assurance and Improvement is a senior level position that sits on the project management team. This position is responsible for ensuring that the quality of care and patient satisfaction are maintained at a high level at associate project clinics. S/he will be responsible for supervising a team of regional quality staff who will in term provide support to staff working in 399 Surjer Hashi Clinics.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic approach to quality assurance and improvement that will maintain and improve quality in a network with 400+ outlets.
  • Responsible for oversight of quality of care and patient satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the supervision of field-based quality assurance teams.
  • S/he will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of quality improvement and quality assurance per national and international standards of care.
  • S/he will work manage teams to design an approach to quality improvement to ensure clinics meet the required criteria to join SHG.
  • The director of QA/QI will also support routine training to ensure all SHG staff are aware of and follow standard operating procedures.

Job Qualifications:

  • A degree in Medicine.
  • An advanced degree in public health preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience on quality improvement for clinical service delivery; five years working with the delivery of private sector health services.
  • Knowledge of the best practices in quality generally, and in the private sector.
  • Experience managing teams that deliver
  • Fluent in English and Bangla
  • Experience working in South Asia required, experience in Bangladesh strongly preferred.
